Our involvement can range from consultancy and condition surveys to the completion of full conservation treatments

Our team is led by an ICON-accredited conservator (ACR) and we are members of the Conservation Register and the National Trust Register of consultant conservators.

Decorative Surfaces

We conserve all types of painted, gilt and decorative surfaces from conservation cleaning to retouching.

Gilding Conservation

Gold leaf can last for many years if treated well. Our specialist treatment of gilt surfaces can preserve historic gilding by cleaning, repairing and toning.

Reinstatement

Britain & Co are highly experienced in the reintegration of historic decoration or the complete reinstatement of historic schemes. Archival research, Paint Analysis and uncoverings contribute to the accurate recreation of historic decoration.

Historic Interiors

Whether located in museums, palaces, institutions, town or country houses, we have years of experience of the many unique techniques and approaches required by in historic interiors and also work with other specialists to deliver complex projects.

Reports & Advice

We are regularly commissioned to provide condition surveys, conservation proposals, treatment reports and budget proposals, informed by paint and materials analysis and expertise in the conservation of decorative surfaces.

Murals - Wallpaintings

We regularly work with multidisciplinary teams to carry out the in-stitu treatment of wallpaintings, decorative art, marouflage paintings and polychromy.
